About Trever

Trever has been studying and teaching the martial arts for over 23 years.  He holds Black Belts in the traditional arts of Shotokan, Taekwondo, and Hapkido.  For the past 20 years, Trever has focused his training in American Kenpo and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor.  He was advanced to that level by his mentor and instructor, Master Dave Hebler.

To keep his martial arts relevant and to continue his personal evolution as a martial artist, in 2002, Trever began to train MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).  MMA consists of several disciplines such as boxing, American kickboxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, and Judo, to name a few.  He has been blessed with the opportunity to train with some of the best practitioners and fighters in these disciplines.  For the past five years, Trever has been training boxing and kickboxing under the guidance of Peter “Sugarfoot” Cunningham. In 2010 Trever joined the world famous Pit and completed the level one instructor certification.  He is proud to be a member of the “ohana” and is committed to continue his training under the instruction of John Hackelman.

While working as a coach and trainer for various regional amateur MMA fighters in Southern California, Trever was employed by IBF World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion, James “Lights Out” Toney, as Head Trainer for his UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) debut, UFC 118 where he met Randy Couture in Boston, Massachusetts, August 28, 2010.

Trever is currently the Chief Instructor and Head Trainer in his own facility, The Academy, in the San Fernando Valley Region.
